In 1633, the Roman Church Inquisition convicted Galileo Galilei of heresy for publishing his Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems. In 2023, does that case shed light (pun intended) on our modern view of religion, prosecutions and the law? With Ido Yavetz ’78 providing historical context for this appellate courtroom drama, the Honorable Lisa Lorish ’03 will preside as Roy Englert ’78 and Paul Fishman ’78, respectively, argue on behalf of the Catholic Church and Galileo.
