One of Princeton University’s defining characteristics and aspirations is: “a commitment to innovation, free inquiry, and the discovery of new knowledge and new ideas, coupled with a commitment to preserve and transmit the intellectual, artistic and cultural heritage of the past.” Our morning panel will feature a discussion on how Princeton’s commitment to innovation engages not only University faculty and students, but also external partners in our community, our region and the world. Panelists will discuss examples of external partnerships and how these partnerships advance “networked innovation,” leading to the emergence of visionary new ideas, spin-out and translation of impactful technologies, and adoption of new life-changing solutions.

Moderator: Kristin Appelget, assistant vice president, Community and Regional Affairs.

Panelists: Tom Griffiths, director, Princeton Lab for Artificial Intelligence; Henry R. Luce Professor of Information Technology, Consciousness, and Culture of Psychology and computer science; Alex I. Norman, executive director, Princeton Materials Institute (PMI); Sacha Patera, Strategic Partnership and Engagement Specialist; Anu Ramaswami, director, M.S. Chadha Center for Global India, Sanjay Swani ‘87 Professor of India Studies, professor of civil and environmental engineering, Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies, and the High Meadows Environmental Institute.
