James Madison Program: The Declaration of Independence and the Future of American Democracy

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, there are many reasons for grave concern as well as celebration. For this special James Madison Program 2026 Reunions event, the eminent scholar of American foreign policy and grand strategy Walter Russell Mead will join Professor Robert P. George for a conversation about the future of American democracy in an age of increasing conflict, both at home and abroad, and the prospects for the renewal of civic education at American colleges and universities.
