Princeton University Concerts Reception and Installation Celebrating the Healing with Music Series

Dasha Koltunyuk ’15 will speak about PUC's Healing with Music series — a series she conceived in 2022 and curates—and will speak about other alumni involvement in the series, including writer Suleika Jaouad ’10 and embroidery artist Diana Weymar ’91.This reception will also mark the opening of an art installation by Diana Weymar '91, on display in the Forum at the Lewis Center for the Arts through Reunions weekend. The exhibit includes work by local community members, created as part the community art project “Interwoven Stories of Healing with Music," a collaboration between Weymar and PUC. The exhibit will also include works related to Princetoniana that Weymar created in collaboration with Jaouad, John McPhee '53, and Professor Joyce Carol Oates. Refreshments will be served.

Romantic Rocks, Indigenous Traces: Poetry, Geology and Empire in Early America (A GradShares Event)

How did geology dictate America’s expansion westward throughout the 19th century? How did rocks prophesy Manifest Destiny, and how did indigenous peoples resist such prophecies? This talk will explore these questions through two writers who had tremendous agency over the colonial, industrial and literary development of the Great Lakes region in the early 19th century: the geologist Henry Rowe Schoolcraft and the Ojibwe poet Jane Johnston Schoolcraft.
