Mental Health at Princeton: Challenges, Opportunities and the Path Forward

May 23 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

5/23/25, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Frist Campus Center, Room 302

Through the challenges that the University community has faced in recent years, students and campus partners have collaborated to identify gaps and address critical needs in mental health resources and supports while continuing to address stigma in campus culture and climate. Since 2023, stakeholders across the University community have worked to implement the recommendations in the “Exploring Mental Health Needs at Princeton“ report, and more recently have implemented other policies to improve access to mental health care, such as reducing by half the mental health co-pay on the Student Health Plan. Hear from student and campus leaders as they update alumni on the challenges and opportunities facing the mental health needs of students and the University community. Please bring your questions for the Q&A to follow the panel discussion, and invite fellow alumni, friends and guests for this important conversation.

ModeratorZhan Okuda-Lim ’15, founding chair, Princeton Mental Health Initiative Board and Ph.D. candidate in policy analysis, RAND School of Public Policy.

Panelists: Meera Kochar ’25, past chair, USG Mental Health Committee; Jenna Elliott ’25, past chair, USG University Student Life Committee; Hilary Herbold *97, assistant director of urgent care, Counseling and Psychological Services; Mellisa Thompson, senior associate dean of undergraduate students, Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students.
